I love a good before and after story!! This was the biggest part of our entire renovation and I finally took some “after” pictures! I am sure you have seen some pictures I have posted on Instagram and Facebook, but I feel like once you see the “before” pictures you will get the whole story!! Let’s start with the before!
These pictures are taken from the front door looking in. We took out the wall separating the two rooms as well as the dropped ceiling in the kitchen. We also took out the old wood stove and framed in a fireplace and chimney outside! As far as cosmetics go, we replaced all the flooring with scraped hardwood floors, painted the walls and replaced all the light fixtures plus added additional lighting! The entire remodel was managed by Rocky Mountain Design Build!
Demo Day! Chip would have loved this project 😉
We are so happy with the way everything turned out! I love my home!! Taking out that wall and opening up this entire room completely transformed this house!
Looking through all of these pictures I can’t even believe this is the same house!
You can see that we started painting in this picture. When we initially bought this house we weren’t sure if we wanted to renovate and live in it ourselves, or turn around and rent it out. As soon as the brainstorming started, our decision was made and we jumped right in!
We were able to fill all the spaces with the furniture we already had, so that was nice! We added some rugs and bar stools and called it good!
You can tell in this picture we still don’t have our baseboards on… You can say this house is a work in progress still!
Our fireplace is one of my favorite parts! It is real wood which is amazing for the colder months, and the brick is amazing! I hand picked this beam for the mantle, and my mom stained it! My dad custom made/welded the metal brackets holding it up! Can I take this if we ever move??? I love it!
Now for the Kitchen! Without looking back at the before pictures, sometimes I forget what it even looked like! We love hanging out in the kitchen! Like I said before we had to take out the dropped ceiling as well as the cabinets and the dividing wall. We completely redesigned the layout of the cabinets (Jules was the master mind behind that), and replaced them with new ones. We added a big island where we put our cook top! I love this feature, because I can be cooking and facing the family while they are in the living room!
All that stayed in the kitchen was the window and the sliding door (which we are replacing)! We ended up using the old cabinets in the garage for a work bench.
The experience of owning our home that we live in (we have been renting for the last 5 years), has been amazing! We love that we can make everything our own and just the way we want it! Although we are not 100% done on the inside, and we haven’t even started on the outside… we love it all! Home Sweet Home couldn’t be truer.
