After a long week/weekend of friends and family and one big birthday party, We loaded up the car and hit the road on Monday! Idaho to California!! We drove the entire 15 hours with only 4 short 10 min stops… You can call us crazy if you want, but Jax and Mia were amazing!! Jax stayed awake the entire trip just to fall asleep like 15 minutes before our hotel. Oh the life of a parent, Mia took one long nap and then also fell back asleep just before the hotel. There was not one tear, no whining, and zero angry babies!!! We were pleasantly surprised, since we haven’t done nearly as much traveling since we moved to Idaho.
Our first stop was Santa Clarita! Jules had to work this week, so we were headed to the pool, like everyday!! The kids and I had a lot of rest to catch up on so a low key week was just what we needed! Just a couple short days in the pool and Jax and Mia were fish! I couldn’t believe how independent they both became. From the moment they woke up Mia was putting on her swimming suit.
We loaded up the car on Friday and hit the road, again! This time we were off to San Clemente!! This is the cutest little beach town just north of San Diego. My parents have been taking the family there for vacation since we were young. Two years ago I got to introduce Jules and the kids, and now we are hooked! It’s my favorite!! Prior to the trip I did a little research and collected a list of some favorite places to eat and see!
We knew we were going to spend 99% of our time at the beach, and that is exactly what we did! San Clemente Pier is so much fun! Last time we were here Mia wasn’t walking yet! This time around she was swimming in the ocean right along with Jules and Jax! We all had so much fun! As you can see!
When we weren’t at the beach we were enjoying some yummy food around San Clemente! Last time we were in San Clemente we really wanted to try Selma’s Chicago Pizzeria. This time we got the chance! It was so delicious!! I don’t remember which pizza we ordered, but it was amazing!!
Pedro’s Tacos was exactly what all the reviews said, The Best!!! I loved the fish tacos, and Jules was a fan of the burritos. Such a fan that he said it was the best burrito he has EVER had!! That’s saying something!
We tried out a couple other places that were recommended. The Sugar Shack had an amazing Eggs Benedict, and the burgers and shakes at Biggie’s Burgers were so good!
The last day of our stay in San Clemente was the 4th of July! It was so much fun experiencing it all! Although everything was crazy busy, we were able to get a great spot on the beach at State Beach! We swam and played in the sand until about 6 and then we got ready for fireworks. It was amazing watching the fireworks from the beach. We could see 4 of the surrounding cities fireworks show as well!
This was the perfect end to the perfect stay in our favorite little beach town San Clemente!
The next morning we got up and headed down to San Diego! That’s where Road Trip Part 2 will begin!
