Good morning! I realize we are already halfway through week two of the year, but we are just getting back to routine and our normal. Jules was home with us for three weeks straight! We all loved it so much and definitely felt spoiled with the consistent time we got with him. He is back to traveling and I am finally back to blogging! Let me tell you it was kind of nice to take a little break. Starting out new in this whole blogging world, it’s so easy to feel so overwhelmed! Anyway… I am back and ready to crush some goals! Speaking of goals. Have you focused on some goals for the new year?? In the years past I only thought them and then spoke them, and then lasted to about June. Not so great! This year is going to be different! This year I decided to sit down and write down my goals. Make them real and achievable. I am already seeing motivation and success in my approach! Jules and I also sat down and made some goals for us and our family and some plans we have for the year! So let’s jump in!
Time:
Did you know we ALL have just 24 hours in every single day!? It’s crazy right? This year I am managing and going to be much more intentional with my time. As a mama, a fiance (soon to be wife, I’m working on a hashtag), and new entrepreneur, I can’t just let each day go by without managing my time better. The last year and a half while Jules has been traveling, It has taken us this long to adjust. I thought it would be much easier, but we are basically living two different lives during the week and then we have three days (weekends) to quickly jump onto the same page! All I can say is, it hasn’t been easy. These are some of the ways I am adjusting the way I handle my time.
- Waking up between 6-7 (before the kids) Monday-Friday
- Carving out time throughout the day to “work”
- In bed sleeping by 11 pm
- No phone/screen time between 6-8 pm
- Meal Plan every Thursday (Jules usually gets home on Thursday or Friday so our week “starts” then)
- Getting outside for at least 1 hour everyday
- Sitting at the table for “educational” time with the kids for 1 hour everyday
Okay so that seems like a lot of things to change right? Don’t worry I am not implementing all of them just yet. I have been working on the going to sleep by 11 pm. I am not a morning person and I really want to change that! I feel like if I wake before Jax and Mia and have just that hour to do what I need to do, BY MYSELF, I can start my day on the right foot! Becoming that morning person requires me to quit my poor nighttime habits! Once the kids are asleep, it’s so hard to “waste” that time with sleep! Does anyone else agree??? As hard as it is, I know once I make it a habit, my body and mind with appreciate more that 3-4 hours of sleep!
No screen time between 6 and 8 is another one I really want to focus on! Now this time frame may and most likely will change, but for now that’s what I am shooting for. I basically want to have that time to focus on my household and my family. As a blogger it’s so easy to always be on my phone keeping up with all the things. The fact is, it’s not healthy for my mind, my eyes (insert glasses…), and my family!
Meal planning seems easy enough. We have been eating clean since the 1st and it feels so good! With all this clean eating, I have been researching like crazy to find some new and healthy recipes. More times than not, we decide on what we want for dinner and then have to run to the store last minute for the ingredients. I want to have everything I need + dinner ready by 5 everyday! I know I would feel much more prepared, and it would free up the time I was wasting searching for the recipe and running to the store! Send me all you super healthy/clean recipes my way!! Please and thank you.
My kiddos are obviously what my entire day revolves around. I wouldn’t have it any other way! Being a stay at home mama it is so easy for all of us to fall into the same old thing every single day. This year I want to change that up! I want to explore all Boise has to offer my little nuggets! Again, send me all you fabulous ideas for activities in the Boise/Meridian/Eagle area! Because I know we won’t necessarily have some extravagant event planned everyday I am keeping it as simple as just walking to our little playground a mile from our house. The kids love it and we get that fresh air that does the body good! In addition to the outside time, I want to really start working with both of the kids on educational things. Reading, writing, and arithmetic here we come! Okay I will leave the math to Jax’s Kindergarten teacher come fall. I know both Jax and Mia would absolutely love the one on two time and they really do love the hands on learning!
Okay are you still with me??? I told you I was going to be writing all of my goals down this year. Why not bring you along! I only have two more categories, and I don’t believe they will be as long as time.
Health:
So this includes more than just getting in shape. That is definitely the highest on my list of health goals, but I also want to focus on my mind and heart. If i am going to be completely honest, and let’s face it most times I’m too honest, I am physically in the worst shape of my life. I am significantly overweight and enough is enough. I am always tired, and I can’t do and wear the things that I want. Ultimately, I want to be able to be the role model for my kiddos that they deserve. So without going crazy deep with this topic, know that I have my goals set. {Coming soon to the blog is more details on my journey of taking back my body}.
I couldn’t agree more with this quote. My mind has been all over the place and in result, my body has lost control. Everyday I want to be the very best version of me I can be. My focus is steady on the way my entire life day in and day out will change. I can’t wait to be healthy and happy with the amazing person I am!
As far as my heart goes, I need to take care of myself. It is so easy to sacrifice my needs and give 100% of myself to my kids and Jules and everyone else in my life. News flash, I am the only one that is going to take care of me! I’m not exactly sure what this looks like yet, but I am going to find something that I can do to give me some “me time” at least once every other week. What are some of the things you do?? Let me know in the comments!!
Like I said before, I am going to dive in deeper with all of my health goals as the weeks go on. I want to bring you all along my journey to the best me. I am still figuring out exactly how I want to map it all out, but stay tuned for all of that to come!
Travel:
So this is my last category for this post. I mean, wow, did I have a lot on my mind…. Sorry about that! Let’s talk travel. 2017 was a year for the books for this sweet family of mine! We made at least 15 major trips + little ones in between. We visited repeat locations as well as some new favorites! We absolutely love to travel. With Jules’ crazy traveling schedule, he is in California or Vegas every week. This year we are wanting to visit so many new locations! The first one we are trying to plan and nail down is our wedding location! We have decided on a destination wedding and now we have to figure out that destination, and fast! We already have some ideas, so I will definitely let you know once we decide. You bet I am going to bring you all along for the year of planning. December 30th 2018 can’t come fast enough! What I love more than anything is bringing our amazing kiddos along with us on all of our trips! Last year we went to Hawaii (read about that trip here) sans kids and it was amazing, but there is something about seeing their eyes when they see the ocean again, or simply the joy of staying in another hotel. I am absolutely planning at least one kid free trip with Jules, but I really can’t wait for all the new adventures this year has to offer us!!
I think that pretty much covers it! I can tell this is going to be an amazing year! We are already implementing so many of these goals and it’s feeling great! I can’t wait to see some of the other goals unfold and make our family that much greater! Day by day is how we do it, with a whole lot of GRACE. Do yourself a favor and write down your goals. Make them small and achievable. Revisit them monthly, even weekly. You only have the here and now so why not make it the best! Here’s to 2018!

good luck with all of your goals this year. I’m definitely working on being healthier – so that means being active more and trying to find more healthy recipes to help mix that up. The same old thing can get boring after awhile.

Since we have done our new bedtime routine and the kids wake up between 5-5:30, I’m not sure I can get up any earlier!
