Good morning ladies! It looks like it’s going to be another beautiful Monday over here. Jules and I were just discussing if we think spring is here to stay, or if we are going to get a surprise snow storm…? I’m really hoping spring sticks around!
With the turn of the New Year, we have been in clean out, organizing, give away mode! The second I took my Christmas tree and decor down last week, I have wanted to get rid of everything!! I’m talking decor, clothes, towels, toys, shoes, coats, ALL THE THINGS. I realize I should probably step back and take a deep breath, but the clarity is bringing me life!
Since the beginning of the month, we have totally changed the way we are eating. It’s clean. It’s simple, and it has made me feel amazing! I have already hit two of my weight goals and I’m not stopping now. I want the rest of my life to feel clean and simple just like my refrigerator! Over the weekend while Jules was at home, we tackled some main areas that had been bothering us. The first one being our walk in closet. We mostly went through Jules’ items and I am finishing the rest of my items this week. We loaded up 5 garbage bags + 3 big boxes! It felt so good!!! What are some of the things you are doing to start this year off fresh??? Are you going through all your closets, or are you waiting for spring?
Right around the beginning of December I was feeling completely saturated with all the shopping and clothing that comes with blogging/instagram/pinterest. Now I will be honest, I absolutely love shopping and finding an amazing deal! From Black Friday until the end of the year, I just felt like I was waking up every morning to something else being marked down, and feeling like I was letting all of you down if I didn’t notify you, and constantly thinking about shopping!!! I felt like I was going a little crazy. It has been so nice to take a little break and not be thinking about that next sale 24/7. This has definitely taken some discipline and retraining my brain, but I want simple.
Being on a cleaning/organinzing kick, from food, to closets, to work, I am finishing up my closet this week! I feel like I love all of my clothes so much, I know it sounds a little ridiculous… But I have so many items that are just taking up space, and I don’t need them anymore!
I want to breathe!!! So here is how I am going to do it. Now I am by no means a professional, but I am going to do what works for me. Instead of focusing on what I haven’t worn in the last year, I am sticking to seasons. If I didn’t wear the item in the last appropriate season, I don’t need it. This goes with shoes, bags, accessories, all of it. Of course I will have some pieces that are more special than others, but even then, I am really going to think about why I am keeping it! I have been talking, on Instagram, about how I want to recreate my wardrobe to be simple and basic and so easy! I know I have more than enough to create that right now. When I say basic, I am talking about items that can mix and match, and fit into any event or style. Some of my favorite items that will be moving to the front of my closet are my black leather jacket, denim jacket, some great pairs of jeans (light and dark), and all the sneakers!
What are you doing to clean out your closet? Do you feel like your style pretty much stays the same all the time? I can’t wait to have that clean/organized closet so I can redirect my focus. I am already seeing the piles of laundry diminishing immensely!! If you want to follow along with my week and the progress of cleaning out my closet, follow me over on Instagram!
Start your week on the right foot and make a little goal for yourself! It doesn’t have to be as big as cleaning out your closet, what am I getting myself into, but make it something small! I love that I can reassess my goals at the start of the week, it makes for the best tiny victories! I’m all about those victories!
