I can’t even begin to tell you how excited we were the day we signed on our “HOME”! We own other properties that we rent out, but we have also been renters ourselves for the last five years. With two toddlers and dreams, lots of them, we were more ready than ever to plant some roots! This sweet little house in Southeast Boise was the winner!
Not the best picture, but the outside is still a work in progress as well!
Now when we bought it, we still hadn’t decided whether we were going to rent it out or completely renovate and live in it ourselves. We brought my mom and dad over, owners of Rocky Mountain Design Build, and the brainstorming began! At that point we knew we had to renovate and make our years of dreaming come to life!!!
Jules and I have had a home dream board for years so really we knew almost exactly what we wanted. Most of the decisions were merely cosmetic, but we also had some more major changes like busting out an entire wall and ceiling as well as constructing a brand new fire place (pictures to come)! We had our work cut out for sure!!
I am going to do the reveal of the renovation in a couple different blog posts. Most of the rooms are complete, but we still have some little details and decorations that we need to finish up.
Today I am going to share our Master Bedroom/Bathroom. Now this room needed some serious help. The before pictures don’t do it justice. We didn’t do much to the bedroom and it isn’t completely finished. We left the paint and switched the carpet for some hardwood floors that we also put throughout the entire house. Basically the bathroom was broken into three different “rooms”. The vanity was separate from the linen closet and those two sections were separate from the toilet and the shower in one giant loooong room…
We ripped it all out! All of it! We took all the walls and doors out, rebuilding just a small sub wall that hid the toilet. We also left a small wall for the entrance of the shower. Jules and I couldn’t believe how much this opened up this space! You can’t even tell it was designed completely different. We added a double vanity, new toilet (who knew toilet shopping was such a task…), and new material throughout the entire bathroom.
Don’t mind my remodeling outfit… I realized I didn’t take a picture of the linen closet, but that is to the right of this picture followed by a door and then the toilet and the shower area.
The walk-in closet off the bathroom is the same, we just painted the walls and shelves the same color as the bathroom walls, and continued the flooring from the bathroom into the closet. This closest is going to be a project in itself… I am trying to finalize my plans for organization and making it a little more appealing.
We are still on the hunt for the perfect pieces to go above our bed and to fill up some of the other walls. Our bed, nightstands, and dresser all came from Cost Plus World Market.
We wanted our cabinets to be a bit more rustic than the cabinets we chose for our kitchen. I love how they turned out. The handles we found add just enough but not to much.
We found all of our bathroom faucets from Amazon and were extremely pleased with the look and functionality at such an amazing price! Jules did a ton of research, but we ended up finding these and they are great!
Almost all of our light fixtures through out the house came from Lowe’s. We hunted forever for a full length mirror to hang above our vanity. Unless we wanted to pay an insane amount of money, we didn’t have much luck. We ended up finding these two mirrors at Hobby Lobby! We used the trusty 40% off coupons and ended up getting them both for $80 total!!
I basically wanted Carrara Marble in my entire house! Realizing that having it in my kitchen was probably not a great idea, with how soft the material is, I settled for just my master bathroom. I am so glad I went with it! It is beautiful!
I have loved adding little details here and there. We still need some art to go on our empty wall, but I really like how simple everything has turned out.
The pebbles on the floor of our shower are a must! They feel amazing on your feet and match perfectly with all of our neutral material.
The shower head was also purchased from amazon! It works great and looks awesome.
We absolutely love how everything turned out! It feels like my little spa. This room was probably second to the kitchen with how extreme the make over was. Can’t wait to share the rest of the house!!
XO,
Corrine Monique
