Good morning and happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend watching the Olympics and spending time with family and friends! Our weekend was packed with so much fun, including celebrating our soon to be 5 year old! Birthday weekends are always my favorite, and I even said,
“I think I like birthdays more than Christmas!”
I have always loved planning parties and birthdays are no exception! Since Jax’s first birthday, I have planned every last detail with all the heart and creativity I have. I will admit, I have tamed down my execution so much, but I still love a good list of details!
So let’s start with, I can not believe I have a F I V E year old…
It seems like it was just yesterday I was wondering when my sweet boy was going to make his appearance, a week and a day late. Fast forward 5 years and I love him even more than I did then, if that’s even possible! His imagination and tender heart lights up the room the moment he walks in. He has such a passionate soul and always dives all in! This birthday I knew he would have an opinion on what the theme was, and I loved that.
It wasn’t much of a surprise when he decided on Monster Jams. A year ago, almost exactly, Papa and Daddy took Jax to the Monster Jam show and the rest is history. Since that day he has collected over 50 Monster Jams, and knows each and every single ones name! It was so much fun planning and imagining his birthday, knowing how much he loves Monster Jams!!!
I always head straight to Pinterest when I am planning anything. Who doesn’t? Click HERE to see my inspiration for this birthday + follow my other boards! I try and find the invitation first and then build the rest of the party off of that! I actually had a really hard time finding something that I loved, but finally found this one on Etsy. The shop was really easy to work with and I was so happy with how the invitations turned out!
I loved the blue and green color scheme and couldn’t wait to get everything else planned and underway!
Like I said before I really was trying to keep things simple. So I stuck to just decorating the food table/display, and calling it good. I always love coming up with a fun menu for each party, and this one was tasty!! We decided to stick with the Monster Jam show theme and serve up some stadium food! It was delicious! We added a fun twist and served Poutine (a Canadian dish) and it was a total hit!
{Side note: Jules is Canadian. He was born and raised in British Columbia and didn’t move down to the states until after he entered his 20’s! I have only visited one time (all four of us) a couple years ago, but can’t wait to go back! Poutine was on my list of must haves during our visit, and I’m so glad we finally created it at home. It is a dish consisting of fries covered in cheese curds and brown gravy!! Yum!}
Along with the Poutine, we had corn dogs, nachos, and popcorn!! Did I mention everything was so delicious!!? For drinks we made it really simple and had water! I loved that the food was yummy, but still super easy for all the little kiddos to run around and eat!
I normally like to make the dessert on my own, but this year I knew I wasn’t going to be able to create what I had in my mind. If only I was a professional baker, am I right? Jax and I headed to our Fred Meyer and ordered the cake! Jax was so excited and every time we passed a Fred Meyer, any Fred Meyer, he asked if they were done making his cake! Adorable. The cake ended up being a hit, and it tasted so yummy too! We had Jax pick out two of his favorite Monster Jams to display on the cake and it turned out perfect!
As far as the decorations went, I wanted lots of balloons with touches of monster truck! I used a fun metal toolbox to display the drinks and cups, and I loved have tires with racing flags front and center! Simple + on point! Jax loved every little detail and was thrilled with the Monster Jam theme he picked out!
Thank you so much to everyone who celebrated our sweet boy from near and afar!! We love you all!!
On to the next party planning adventure.
XO,
Corrine Monique

Wanted to know where to buy the tires in the flags for your decoration party

Those were actually from my dad! He found them at an auction. Maybe amazon, or even the local junkyard might have them!

We got them at Lowes! There are three sizes and this is the middle size. I think they might still be available!
